Environmental Statement for Ashorne Hill Conference Centre 

Ashorne Hill are aware  of the negative impacts in which the day to day running of the business can have on the environment, therefore a statement has been created to show how the company is working towards minimizing the impact.

As a company we are therefore committed to the following points:

Estate Management

  • Ashorne Hill have a programme in place to plant broad leaf deciduous tree
  • On site we have our own sewage system which is enzyme based with reed beds for final polishing of all waste water. The final product is then suitable for discharge into water courses and is monitored by the environment agency to ensure strict consent levels are adhered to.
  • Our gardeners insure that the wildlife and habitats are protected, through planting and waste management
  • The company grows its own Christmas trees

Internally 

  • Raise awareness of environmental issues amongst present/ future staff and customers
  • For the use of the meeting rooms and restaurant we bottle our own water
  • Reduce waste through re-using and re-cycling
  • We have a no print policy on our E-mails
  • Thermostats within the meeting rooms to modify the air conditioning to be warmer and the heating to be cooler
  • Use of energy efficient lighting where possible
  • Night staff ensure all lights are switched off in rooms out of use
  • Use of linen table covers and napkins, no disposables
  • Avoid using unnecessary laundering of linen
  • Use of china, glass and silverware, no disposables
  • Bulk food purchasing to save on packaging

External

  • We use suppliers who have a good environmental policy in place and wherever possible we source local home grown produce
  • Always take into account environmental impacts when taking on any re-development or new build

  • To communicate our aims and activities widely, consulting with staff, customers and other stakeholders to encourage critical thinking and feedback.
